Kathmandu is a wonderful, sprawling, bustling city and I always enjoy being here. One of the things I don’t enjoy are the internet cafes. This is the fourth time I’ve tried to write this blog entry. we’ll see if it works!
We spend a few days in Kathmandu before starting our trek to basecamp. We sort our bags into things we’ll need on the hike and things that can go directly to basecamp. we buy all the last minute things that we think we can’t do with out, or that we forgot (I bought two shirts and a bunch of toilet paper today.) We also eat at the fantastic restaurants here.
Nawal arrived a few days ago. He wanted to take more time to hike to basecamp to allow for better acclimatization. He also like to sketch and going early lets him stop as often as he likes. We’ll all catch up in a few days, probably in the village of Dingboche.
Amit arrives on the 6th and Charlotte & Paul on the 7th. We plan to fly to Lukla and start our trek to basecamp on the 9th.
